Find Plant-Based Peace at NoMad Newcomer Om Juice Bar
When I first moved to NYC from my hometown in west Los Angeles almost 10 years ago, I admit I was a bit of a caricature: I wasn’t at all prepared for my first winter (discovering wool socks was a revelation) and I wouldn’t stop talking about how much I missed my favorite foods, tacos and smoothies.
In the decade since, I’ve lived in four neighborhoods across two boroughs, and have had my fair share of tacos, some really good, most just OK, almost all too expensive.
My hunt for the perfect smoothie has been less fulfilling (but usually just as expensive). It’s hard to find purveyors that use local, seasonal produce, which both tastes better and is more sustainable, and even harder to find those that are mindful of sustainability in their packaging and distribution.
NoMad’s Om Juice Bar, which opened late last month, is thinking about all of the above and more.
